In early June 2017, Joseph Innes, one of the world’s leading speed flying specialists, flew through the mountains of Romania. A bit of a phenom in the sport, Innes loves playing at pretty much everything in the mountains, from climbing to skiing, but has only been flying for about three years.
That fact shouldn’t give anyone false confidence about taking on the amazing things he does: shooting over gullies and through forests. Make no mistake, the things Joseph and other pilots do are otherworldly and shouldn’t be attempted without putting the work in to learn the craft of speedflying. Here’s a short film I put together from Innes’ point of view, navigating those mountains of Romania.
