Road cycling is more dangerous than you’d think, mostly because drivers aren’t always aware of cyclists. Then there are hazards you’d never think of, like flying deer. This buck gets smacked by a car and very nearly takes out a road cyclist. Check out her reaction as she realizes what just happened and how close she was to getting impaled by antlers.
The video was taken by North Carolina cyclist Peter Flur, who ironically keeps a camera on his bike in case of a run-in with motorists. He and the group were on a 45-mile ride. “I look up and see this thing flying at us,” Flur said. “For a few seconds, I didn’t even know what it was. … It happened so fast, at that very instant, we just didn’t know. These are the crazy things that we see when we’re on our bikes.”
