Therapy is expensive, no doubt. We go sit down with someone we don’t know, who listens to problems he or she has probably heard a thousand other times from couples trying to do the same thing: get help for their marriage. Sometimes it works. Other times, well….and at $200-300 per hour over the course of a year, or longer?
So Elyse Saugstad and Cody Townsend pose this important question. Is heli-skiing with your significant other better, and cheaper, for matrimony than actual couples therapy, especially when attempting to solve disagreements or rough patches caused by any number of things? Well, it might be. Unless one-half of the couple absolutely rips and the other half, well, likes his or her safe places. Like these two. Of course, it’s farcical (not to ruin anything for anybody), they both actually rip. Yes, satire is wonderful. But it is an interesting question. Is a hut trip, or a surf trip or any number of getaways better, and cheaper, than actual therapy (do the math in your head), especially when said getaway happens sans cell phones? The answer might very well be yes.
