The Inertia

He’s obviously no Chris Sharma. But that didn’t deter solo climber Stephen Rogata from attempting to scale Trump Towers in New York City yesterday using climbing gear and what appeared to be suction cups. According to reports he started from an atrium on the fifth floor that’s apparently open to the public. He made it all the way to the 21st floor before the NYPD roughly dragged him inside the building (below). Today, the 19-year-old from Great Falls, Va., was charged with reckless endangerment and trespassing for his climbing mission.

Putting aside his apparent support for Trump in the upcoming election, the kid still seems a couple of cards short of a deck. Take a look at this video where he’s dressed in a black hoodie requesting a “private audience,” with the candidate and real estate mogul to discuss an undisclosed matter while encouraging people to vote for him. Rogata was hoping his climb would attract Trump’s attention. As many of the comments suggest, the teen takes on quite the creepy tone in the video which has garnered nearly a million and a half views.

Rogata roped off on a set of powerful suction cups which he attached to the building’s glass, moving slowly up the building. His three-hour mission certainly didn’t go over well with police. Trump approved: “Great job today by the NYPD in protecting the people and saving the climber,” he (or someone) posted to his twitter account.

Twitter, of course, unleashed in kind:
