Humans never cease to bring chaos to the world around them. This unidentified Canuck certainly earns double points in the Darwin Award category. And this week, he earned something else: criminal charges. According to the CBC, two men in this video (obviously the man riding the moose is one of them) were charged with harassing wildlife, attempting to capture wildlife and hunting big game while the animal is swimming (also against the law).
Authorities caught up to them after the lake in the video was identified as Tuchodi Lakes near Fort Nelson, British Columbia. The video was posted to social media last year and rightfully caused a serious uproar as wildlife lovers went bonkers. It then took authorities a year to find the group that chased the moose in a boat before the lead barney jumps onto the animal’s back while it’s swimming. The two are in court on August 8.
Tourists have had a rough go of it this spring. Here’s a few survival tips created for tourists visiting Yellowstone that may apply elsewhere, too (and to be fair, consuming a half-rack of Molson and jumping on the back of a moose is next level). But help is out there, if you need it.
