An 800-vertical-foot indoor ski and snowboarding slope is opening in March 2019 in New Jersey, according to American Dream Meadowlands, the group opening the snow park that will be known as Big Snow America.
The facility’s construction is underway with the facility set to be 16 stories high with more than 180,000 square feet of terrain. It will cater to beginners, of course, with most of the guests expected to come from destinations without snow. More experienced guests will likely visit in the off season, according to the company. Half the park will be available for general riding (the other half for lessons) and will include “freestyle terrain park features for guests to practice their skills (during) traditional off-season months.”
The park will also feature an ice climbing wall, ice rink and other offerings of the consumer world including a waterpark, dining, and shopping. The facility, which is easy access from New York City, will be able to control the climate indoors, especially humidity, and claims the snow quality will be similar to a “cold, crisp day of outdoor skiing. The kind of snow that squeaks under your feet.”
