Alex Honnold, the doe-eyed free solo master, recently suffered a fairly heavy injury after being lowered off the end of a rope: two broken vertebrae. So of course he undertakes a strict rehab program — one comprised of minimal rest and nabbing the third ascent of an 8-pitch, 14.b sport climb.
Not long after the injury, Honnold flew to China and met up with Brazilian climber Felipe Camargo. The two strongmen gunned for the third ascent of Corazon de Ensueno in the Getu Valley, put up in 2011 by Dani Andrada. A casual eight days of working the route was all the duo needed to send.
Aside from great footage of the massive, white limestone cave in the jungles of China, this video has some funny revelations. Like the fact that Honnold has worn the same pair of shorts for five years.
