If they were ever to have the same tombstone, it would definitely read something like this: “Herein Lies Two Epic Humans.” After watching this collection of footage of Hayden Kennedy and Inge Perkins, there’s no way you could disagree. Perkins was killed in an avalanche in October on Imp Peak in the southern Madison Mountains near Bozeman, Montana while backcountry skiing with Kennedy. Sadly, Kennedy–a world-class climber–took his own life after the tragic incident.
The video above was skillfully edited by Anson Fogel with Forge Motion Pictures and really brings out the thoughtful character Kennedy was (his father Michael was the former editor of Climbing magazine). Solid with words, Hayden Kennedy was the thinking man’s alpinist. He and Perkin’s deaths have rocked the outdoor world.
