The Inertia

Snowboarding has produced some incredibly creative artists, musicians and filmmakers. However, forays into feature films have been rare or non existent up to this point. Lukas Huffman, a professional snowboarder-turned-ivy-leaguer-turned-filmmaker released an award winning feature film earlier this year and now it’s available on iTunes. When The Ocean Met The Sky is a bold leap into the feature arena. And people apparently agree with me, since it has been lauded over. Huffman’s film made the festival rounds and secured a number of prestigious awards.

While I haven’t actually had a chance to download the film, I trust in Huffman’s skills. But the question remains, will audiences embrace it? In the movie, three estranged brothers, who lose their mother and father, must retrace a backcountry journey their parents took decades earlier in order to receive their inheritance. It’s a bit of a reach but the film is shot superbly well, one of Huffman’s calling cards. You can rent or buy the film here.
