The Inertia

Rebecca Rush is a professional adventure racer. She has spent a lifetime in the pain room. But last year she revisited an issue that has brought her a liftetime of pain when she cycled the whole of the Ho Chi Minh Trail in search of her father’s remains, a fighter pilot who was shot down during the Vietnam War.

As a professional athlete for more than three decades, she is a seven-time World Champion who continues to shatter the glass ceiling in climbing, rafting, and biking. She’s river boarded down the Grand Canyon. And beaten plenty of men during her endurance mountain bike racing career.

But Rebecca’s most recent journey goes much deeper. She cycled 1,200 miles along the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Southeast Asia to search for her father’s plane. He was shot down over 40 years ago. She shared the journey with another mountain biker, a local Vietnamese woman, and they documented it all in an epic film called Blood Road that just hit theaters. It was a really interesting interview. Listen in.
