The Inertia

For as far as the technology has come in the world of health, one key issue has been left relatively unaddressed: hydration. Drinking enough water daily is without question one of the best things you can do for your health. It regulates metabolism and body temperature, curbs cravings, boosts energy, helps repair muscles, and helps flush toxins. Despite all the obvious benefits of drinking water, many people (myself included) often fail to drink enough water simply because they forget.

That’s where the HidrateSpark Smart Water Bottle comes in. The bottle links to your smart phone. When you first download the compatible HidrateMe app, it asks for basic information like your age, height, weight, and activity level to help calculate how much water you should be drinking each day. Your bottle monitors how much water you’re consuming, and the app tracks your water intake for the day. When it’s time to sip on some water, the bottle glows to remind you.

In addition to the basics, the bottle and app also sync to other wearable fitness products, like your Fitbit. When you go for a run, or engage in physical activity, it automatically adjusts the amount of water you need to drink for the day. Plus, the app can track your location to factor in the temperature, humidity, elevation, and other elements of your surroundings to your hydration equation as well.

Besides function, the water bottle is sleek, light, and looks surprisingly natural for the advanced technology it contains. For all these reasons, HidrateSpark has raised FAR more money than it’s original goal of $35,000 on Kickstarter. Donors have already pledged $627,644 to help the product get off the ground, and the first batch of product shipped at the end of March.
