The Inertia

Men’s Health has just released their list of The 100 Fittest Men Ever which happens to include Kelly Slater and Laird Hamilton, who rank at 35th and 41st respectively. The list is topped by Michael Phelps (Swimming #1), along with Bruce Lee (Martial Arts #2) and includes such famous competitors as Jerry Rice (Football #56), Carl Lewis (Track and Field #31) Mark Spitz (Swimming #88) and caps of with Ray Lewis (Football #100).

Laird is credited with the invention of tow in surfing, conquering “80-plus-feet swells” and “revolutionizing on-water workouts.” Among Kelly Slater’s mentioned accolades are his stature as “surfing’s biggest star,” being the youngest, as well as oldest ASP World Champion, and his confounding ability to maintain his youth.
