Although aloe vera is the go-to, natural cure for a nasty sunburn, if you’re out of the goopy green stuff, black tea is another effective cure. The tannins in the tea help soothe the burned skin, and they kick-start the recovery process.
After experiencing a sunburn, fill a pitcher with warm (not hot) water. Soak a couple black tea bags in the pitcher until the water is close to black. Allow the water to cool before applying. Then, while standing in the tub or shower, used soaked rags to apply the tea to the skin. Do not wipe off the tea- allow it to remain on the skin like an ointment or lotion. For best results, apply tea to skin as soon as possible after getting burned. This will minimize the damage and speed up recovery time.
While this is a great remedy, remember that the best thing you can do to take care of your skin is to avoid getting sunburnt in the first place.
