Imagine traveling across the country and overseas for four months sampling and soaking in the world’s finest beer. The weather is warm, the beer is cold, and who knows, maybe the waves are pumping too (depending on where you go). Now imagine getting paid thousands of dollars to do so. Well, as it turns out, this is actually a very real job opportunity for summer of 2016. I don’t know who deemed this as “work” or decided it would be worthwhile to pay someone to do these things, but I tip my hat to whoever did.
World of Beer is looking for 3 “Drink It” interns to ship across the globe for the summer. The interns will be visiting top breweries, attending beer festivals, and sharing about their beer soaked adventures on various forms of social media and on the World of Beer blog. The position pays a whopping $12,000 in addition to covering all travel, lodging, and beer costs. Although it’s not a full-time salaried position with benefits, I’d say the beer and travel perks far outweigh any traditional benefits.
The job description states, “We’re recruiting three Drink it Interns to hit the road this summer and search out the best craft beer and food the world has to offer. We’ll send you down the street and around the world to capture the best beer stories and document them by blogging, capturing video, taking photos, Facebooking, Tweeting, sharing Vines, Periscoping, and anything else you think would be awesome to help tell the tale.”
In other words, it’s essentially a social media internship. Except unlike most social media internships, it’s centered entirely on beer. No doubt your social skill (media and in person) will have to be up to par to make the cut, but the application process looks fairly simple. Like any other job, you submit a standard application online along with a 1-minute video explaining why you would do a good job. For those able to attend, World of Beer will also be holding in person interviews at their various locations. You can apply HERE and see additional information.
