The Inertia

Life can be so frustrating. There are just so many things to do, but so little time to do any of them. For example, it’s a hot summer day, and you feel like you should be spending time on the lake, but you also really need to work on your yoga practice. Major dilemma. What do you do? YOGAKAYAK, OF COURSE.

What is this eloquently-named, mythical invention I speak of? Oh, let me tell you. Imagine one of the world’s oldest, most ingenious water crafts: the kayak. Now imagine that it has been flattened out, lined with strips of deck pad material, and customized with foot and hand holds. Oh baby. Let the downward dogs begin.

Now with the Yogakayak you can do hours of yoga all afloat a kayak in the middle of your favorite pond, puddle, lake, river, or sea.  The craft weighs only 28 lbs, and it has it’s own strap, so it’s no problem to carry your Yogakayak down to the beach. Plus, you can even customized yours with beautiful, vinyl flowers.

Additionally, the craft comes with an 8 foot wooden paddle. The extra-long paddle allows you to paddle the Yogakayak either in the seated kayak position or in a stand-up paddle position. Versatility, oh heck yes.

However, should you get bored of your water top sun salutations, the Yogakayak is also ideal for “Mayak Polo.” Designed by the creators of Yogakayak, the game is somewhat a derivative of water polo. There are two nets and a single ball, with an optional number of players on each team. Some of my favorite rules:

-Player can sink or capsize other player’s Yogakayak.

-On a lake player can stand up and throw the ball anywhere as long as they are 8 feet away from a duck.

-The ball has to be in the net on any side and stay in the circle formed by the pool noodles to validate a point.

No doubt, the game is sure to be a summertime staple for kids and adults everywhere. The website cites,”This sport is often described as a mix of kayaking, basketball and water polo. The tactics and the game itself is similar to, basketball and water-polo, but with the added complexity of ships, in terms of positioning to shoot, moving yourself, and protecting the ball.”

The creators of the Yogakayak and Mayak have a simple goal: to promote health. “We want to promote healty way of life by doing physical activities and eating well. We think that this is essential fore the developement of young people. Our satisfaction is your hapiness. We have achieved our mission when people have fun make new friends and joy take place.” Say what you will about the product, but you can’t fault them for their noble motives.
