Nom nom. Is it just us, or is food always on your mind, too? A hearty meal of some fresh fish always sounds mighty nice–what’s better than throwing a couple filets on the good ol’ grill or heading to the local sushi bar for that raw goodness? Problem is, there’s a whole lot of fuss about sustainability and mercury levels that you never know who you’re going to piss off or how much toxic crap you’re consuming.
Lucky for us, National Geographic has a nifty Seafood Decision Guide so you might educate yourself before diving in head first. Too often we take the easy route and eat what’s in front of us. But with this interactive chart of sorts, simply click on whatever fish you’re considering and you’ll get everything from food chain levels and sustainability rankings to omega-3 content and mercury levels. There are also new filters (this is an updated version) for pregnant and nursing mothers as well as people with heart-related concerns.

National Geographic also has a heaping handful of Cook-Wise webisodes and recipes for you to make use of this flood of information. Yay, health!
