Hard to believe it, but Dragon Alliance has been in the sunglasses-game for over 30 years. It all began in 1993 in a garage in Capistrano Beach where founder Will Howard sought to create a product that would draw from his passions for riding waves, powder, and bikes.
Since then, they’ve come a long way, but they’ve always sought to stay true to their core. Take “The Box,” for example, a classic, narrow shade that Rob himself was rockin’ back in the day. Dragon is re-releasing these classic shades for their 30th anniversary, harkening back to the early days while at the same time bringing things up-to-date.
The Box sunglasses exude 90’s edgy cool (which, by the way, is making a comeback) and are available in three different colors: black, matte black, and white. But Dragon didn’t stop there with their re-release of the classic sunnies. The sunglasses also feature updated materials and technology such as frames made from a sustainable plant-based resin. The lenses also feature performance polarization and Dragon’s Lumalens color-optimization tech that provides clarity and increased depth perception, all while reducing eye strain and fatigue.
“The one thing I’d say about Dragon is they’re consistent,” says Rob. “They really just stayed focused on doing what they do and doing it well. I mean late 90’s we were in the thick of it. I think the team at the time was me, Benji and Shane, maybe Conan was on the team, Taylor cranking out a movie every year. It was just a rad little crew to be a part of and I didn’t look back from there.”
