Editor’s Note: #My5Lines is a new series highlighting five of the most gorgeous mountain-inspired lines on earth and insight into each one from the folks who know them best. We’re proud to have Ski Utah kick off the series.

You hear “Utah” and you think of a raw expanse harking back to the days when “Go West!” meant conquer mountains, not sit idly on a beach. You envision mountain towns built like they used to be in that gung-ho, never-say-never spirit, and the way they damn well should’ve stayed. You smell both wildflowers and hot cider, depending to which season your mood carries you. And you feel a sense of ruggedness that once ran rampant over the frontiers and over the ranges, but has since been lost to multiplexes and 10-story garages.

There are a handful of other descriptors given the longstanding relationship with a certain group, but Utah is more than temples and beehives. It always has been. And these five mountains and the communities they harbor represent the conjoining canyons and surrounding stretches’s monumental peaks and endless powder to the utmost. And many of these mountains share ridge lines that slingshot skiers and snowboarders to untouched stashes beyond your wild dreams.

They collectively bring forth a sentiment that says: The summit’s that way, and that’s the way we’re all going.
