Patagonia has been at the forefront of corporate rebellion of late – companies using platforms for good. The brand has supported efforts to save sacred lands in Canada, Utah, and beyond, even pushing Outdoor Retailer to move from Utah to Colorado because of the state’s porous environmental record. Environmentalism is part of the brand’s DNA.
That’s why it’s no surprise they put their name behind this movement: supporting Bureo in the development of NetPlus, a material made from recycled fishing nets collected in Chile and Argentina now used to make the company’s hats. Patagonia says it’s repurposing 71,000 pounds of waste per year with the program. That’s no small achievement.
