United by Blue isn’t just making clothes: they’re making a difference. The company promises to remove one pound of trash from waterways for every product purchased. Recently, the company hit a huge milestone by removing over 200,000 pounds of trash over the past five years. The company hosts independent cleanups, and employees organize community outreach and operations. Thus far, United by Blue has hosted over 118 cleanups in 21 states, which we think is pretty awesome.
Even though United by Blue doesn’t just make clothes, they still make pretty darn wonderful clothing. I was lucky enough to test out some of their women’s summer line, and I absolutely love what I got to check out. The line is made out of simple, cotton staples with understated colors and great quality fabric. The clothes are clearly made for comfort, and the relaxed fit is perfect for hot summer days.
My two favorite pieces are the Acadia Drape Dress and the Bike Shop Tank. The dress is a no-stress piece that’s easy to slip on and go anywhere. The fabric is an incredibly soft blend of 50% organic cotton and 50% Tencel. The casual fit is great for days when you want to look cute, but above all, you just want to be comfortable. The cinch waist is extremely flattering without being restrictive. The tank is an every day piece that fits just the way it’s supposed to. It’s great to throw on with a pair of jeans or shorts, and it’s pretty much the perfect effortless tank.
Head over to www.unitedbyblue.org to check out the rest of the line, and remember that for every item purchased, United by Blue removes one pound of trash from our waterways. How great is that?
