EVOLVE Summit in Los Angeles will celebrate individuals making positive contributions to surf and outdoor culture. Kimi Werner will premiere her film Three Hearts Home, supported by OluKai, that explains her journey to reconnect with her long-lost brother, Dr. Randall Kosaki, who, despite growing up in an entirely different household, was driven by an innate connection to the ocean and ultimately became a chief scientist at NOAA. After, she’ll talk about how spearfishing and sustainability make for an unlikely pairing. Tickets sold out quickly last year, so grab one before they’re gone.
This Saturday, August 17, The Inertia’sThe film Three Hearts Home is a project that is very close to my heart.
I’ve always loved making films on conservation and responsible harvesting-hunting coexisting in harmony. However, with this film, I dug much deeper to explain a personal story of what makes me truly believe in this reality. It’s not just a film on ocean conservation and what it means to me. It’s a film about family, values, and a story told through the eyes of my own mother.
I used her path and the hard decisions she had to make along the way to honor her sacrifices and all that she gave us. It’s a film about finding my long lost brother and the healing and insight it brought to our family.
