The Inertia

Nathan Pettigrew sees some amazing things from his kayak. A few weeks ago, off the coast of New Zealand, Pettigrew ran into a pod of orca whales, who seemed to be just as curious about him as he was about them.

Pettigrew, who teaches children how important conservation of both the ocean and its creatures, isn’t worried about orcas. “I’m never fearful with orcas — they are just far too intelligent … almost the underwater equivalent of us as humans,” he told the Daily Mail.
