Nature is apparently unsympathetic to the plight of its dying gentle giants. Of late, whales have washed up on different beaches in Southern California causing some major fuss – not to mention the smell. Humans are no better to be sure. Remember the Australian man who “surfed” a dead whale?
But there’s perhaps nothing more gruesome to watch than thirty tiger sharks chowing on a whale carcass in real time in Cape Cuvier, Western Australia. It’s the circle of life, no doubt. And the reality is this outcome is better than any of the alternatives, namely it washing ashore somewhere and being detonated with actual dynamite (yeah, that actually happened in Oregon in 1970). Still, try watching without grimacing.
