'Epic'. My favorite wave to paint is Pipeline and here's a surreal version of that magical place. There's also hidden words on this painting.
'Backyards'. I love sunrises, sunsets and their colors and I always try to paint these magical moments. I lived with Eddie Rothman and his family here on the North Shore for 6 months and I used to go surf at Backyards and saw a lot of these moments in the morning, and one day I decided that it was time to paint them.
'Pounders Beach'. A surreal version of Pounders Beach, located on Oahu's northeastern shore.
2014: Painting the mural 03 of 101 in Wailuku, Maui. The theme was the beautiful Honolulu Bay and its waves.
'Monster shark'. 'This painting represents the spirit of the shark and its beauty. Sharks are beautiful animals and they are so important for our oceans. In 2006, I spent few months at Abrolhos Archipelago, in southern Bahia, in Brazil, to study marine animals like whales, turtles, dolphins, sharks, etc. I learned a lot and I realized that these animals don't have a voice, we need to be their voices and protect them as much as we can.
Mural 11 of 101 - Ann Street Elementary School, Los Angeles - CA.
'The Largest Wave Mural in the World'. The 14,080-square-foot painting is located at Waiakamilo Rd., in Kalihi, Honolulu. I used 150 gallons of paint, a 65 ft boom lift and a help from a lot of volunteers, friends and family. That mural is the first one of a series of 101 that I'm planning to paint around the world.
'Monster pipeline'. Here is another surreal version of Pipeline. Some people like to call this painting Teahupo'o but it's actually Pipe. I'm working on a new one, a surreal Teahupo'o.
Here's myself teaching 50 kids how to paint a little fish on the wall. It was in November, 2015, at Sentosa Island, in Singapore, as part of the 101 Perfect Waves - International Mural Project. I painted three murals there and this one I had a collaboration of 50 chosen kids from different local schools.
'Blue nights'. Sometimes I take my family to watch the moonrise at Laie Point and the inspiration for Blue Nights came from those moments. This image is also on skateboards made by a company called EverSesh in Huntington Beach, CA.
'Boa noite Asturias'. This is one of my favorites places on Earth. Asturias beach is located in Guarujá (São Paulo state, in Brazil) and this is the place where I learned to how to surf with my brother Wallace. It's also a very special place for me because my Dad used to go fishing there a lot before he passed away in 2010.
Here's myself painting the mural #11 of 101 Perfect Waves, my international mural project. This mural was painted in Downtown Los Angeles at Ann Street Elementary School and I had the help of over 300 students who painted fishes on the bottom part as well people from their community alongside LAPD officers. It was a really cool experience.
Painting the final details of the largest wave mural in the world, in October, 2013. I drove by that blank wall one time and I decided to go for it. After 6 months planning the whole project, it took me only 5 days to paint that huge wall.
