Matt Pagan and I have chased swells across the South Bay region of Los Angeles for years now. He’s an incredible surfer with one of those smiles that lights up a room, and I can say I’ve never seen him be negative or even act like he’s having a bad day. I’m sure he’s had them — we all do — but he’s just one of those people who doesn’t let it show. Matt can get out of the ocean after a surf session in knee-high, windy slop with a hop to his step and still flash that smile. So, to put it simply, he’s one of surfing’s good guys.
As if that weren’t enough, he rips too. Matt has a strong air game and a nose for barrels, making him one of the South Bay’s standouts for a long time now.
