The Inertia

You ever own a piece of gear that so thoroughly solves so many problems that you quickly don’t go anywhere without it? For professional climbers and Patagonia ambassadors (and musicians!) Nicolas Favresse and Sean Villanueva O’Driscoll, that piece of gear is the highly venerated Patagonia R1 fleece mid-layer.

So much do they love the R1 that they created the music video above to shower the R1 with praise. We’ll go out on a limb and say this is the world’s first song and music video dedicated to the R1, and quite possibly any mid-layer. It’s so good, in fact, that we nearly forgot that on some level it’s just a catchy ad. Nearly.

Still, the R1 is beloved by the people that own one. For evidence, look no further than the comments:

“Soooooo goooooood! And this was waaaatched in an R1!” wrote Bradford Grantt.

“R1 is the most technical layer ever created, only the R1 can provide exceptional warmth and ventilation, not to mention the hood covers your whole face so you can stay 100 percent warm in the mountains,” wrote Trevor Payor.

One listen and you’re bound to have this tune stuck in your head.

“… in the woods, I like to poo. It was done in an R1…”
