Save The Waves Festival 2014 is very proud to announce the film selections for the 6th annual USA tour visiting San Diego, Brooklyn, and San Francisco on the first three Fridays in November. 

PENINSULA
North America Premiere
Made in Italy and shot entirely in 35mm, 16mm and super8 film. A “freedom collage” about surfing and surfers, about friendship and rivalries, about environmental issues, climate and a bit of history… Where surfing in Italy came from and what it’s like nowadays. Directed by Luca Merli. Year: 2014.

ENDLESS OCEAN
North America Premiere
Nine islands in the middle of the Atlantic. Countless outer reefs and slabs. A wonderland of surf exploration with the first family of Azorean surfers. Directed by Sachi Cunningham. Year: 2014.

INTO THE MIND OF GREG LONG
World Premiere
A film by Patrick Trefz. Innersurf is a journey into the mind, body and motivation of big wave surfing legend Greg Long. Some of the most impressive big wave surfing footage of all time coupled with the philosophy that inspires Greg to continue paddling out into the unknown. Director: Patrick Trefz. Year: 2014.

Surfer-activist Kyle Thiermann from Surfing For Change travels to Baja California Norte to tell the story of the new Bahia Todos Santos World Surfing Reserve. Directed by Kyle Thiermann. Year: 2014.

Struck by the global challenge of marine pollution, three friends set out to establish Chile’s first fishnet collection and recycling program. Inspired by a life long passion for surfing, the team found a positive solution for a harmful material degrading ocean ecosystems. Director: Ian McGee. Year: 2014.

Five surfers travel to a desolate land in search of where the desert meets the Pacific. This is the beginning of a new light cycle and a new life cycle. This is the Solstice. Director: Diego Rojas. Year: 2014.

MEET CLAUDIO

Through surfing, the Valpo Surf Project harnesses the power of the ocean to engage, educate, and motivate our students to become young leaders. This is a story about Claudio. Director: Martha Rigby. Year: 2014.

JUNE GLOOM
The sea speaks to us. She gives spiritual meaning in a world of chaos. She gives reason for spontaneous travel at a moment’s notice. Darshan Gooch dances with her, finding synchronicity, balance, and meaning. Featuring “The Sea Is My Brother” by Jack Kerouac. Director: Adam Warmington. Year: 2014.

AGAINST THE GRAIN
Documenting the construction and use of an ancient Hawaiian surfboard made from reclaimed wood. Recent decades have witnessed a rapid progression of our sport and widespread use of environmentally irresponsible materials. Using modern tools to revisit the roots of surfing and experiment with environmentally sustainable building materials. Director: Alessandro Rodriques. Year: 2014.
