The Inertia

From broke 25-year-old surfer to the highest paid CEO in America, tallying up $285 million in 2014 alone. Nick Woodman’s ascent was fast with the light going off in his head a mere 14 years before in 2001. Today, he is “mentoring” the likes of Shaun White, Ted Ligety, Travis Rice, and Jamie O’Brien in maximizing their reach in their (incredibly effective) efforts to build their brands.

And now, as we all know, it is difficult to turn a corner without running into a GoPro production. For Nick, his company’s outsized success comes down to the simple believe that: “Anything worth doing is worth capturing on a GoPro.”

Goodman believes that the experience and excitement surrounding the footage is just as satisfying as whatever the footage is of — albeit in a different dimension. Whether you agree with him or not, it is downright ignorant to deny the massive influence he has had in shaping the action sports landscape.

Side note: how much does Shaun hate that Bryant Gumbel called him the Flying Tomato in this segment?
