A Word From Will Overman
I am an East Coaster through and through. I grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia with saltwater in my veins and the Blue Ridge in my bones. As a kid I was either surfing on 57th Street, illegally kayaking in First Landing State Park, or driving my 1993 Honda Accord four hours west to camp for a few nights in the verdant hills of Appalachia. Over the years the outdoors have served as an anchor through all phases of my life, both low and high. My dad and I have spent countless miles hiking together in the woods, and just as many hours watching flies drift down rivers. In 2012 I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail and since then I’ve taken the discipline and determination honed on the trail and applied it to my professional life as a touring singer-songwriter. I may not be coastal or mountain based these days, but that doesn’t mean I’m not finding every opportunity I can to escape into the greater than.
