Sean McDonald grew up in a small town near Boulder, Colorado. After earning a BA in Journalism with a minor emphasis in photography from the University of Colorado, he caught the travel bug, making several long excursions into Asia and Central America. Living in Australia for a year brought surfing into his life, and he became dedicated to being near the ocean. During a serendipitous trip to Panama, the beauty and untapped surf potential of the Cambutal area grabbed his attention and hasn’t let go. He built and runs a small hotel with his sister and tries to be in the water every day surfing or shooting photos.
