I'm a 25-year-old haole boy raised on the Big Island of Hawai'i. I didn't get into surfing until I started studying at the University of Hawai'i at Hilo, but ever since then I've spent as many days as possible in the water to make up for lost time. I spent three years living in Japan and have the pleasure of surfing in Kyushu, Okinawa, Taiwan, the Philippines and New Zealand with varying degrees of success, but the people I've met and the things I've seen following the waves have been unforgettable so far. My favorite place to surf will always be Hilo, even though I'm always the whitest guy out there.
