Ryan was born, and grew up, just inland from Newcastle on Australia’s East Coast - a region home to surfing world luminaries such as Mark Richards, Matt Hoy, Simon Law, Travis Lynch, Ryan Callinan, Craig Anderson and many more talented, underground surfers. He spent his formative surfing years hunting waves up and down the East Coast of Australia, and now spends his current years working to fund travels to hunt waves in tropical locations around the world. He now resides on the Gold Coast, and has for the past decade. His first three years in Australia’s surfing capital were spent studying a Marketing Degree and working for iconic Australian label, Mambo. The following three years were spent as the Marketing Manager of Morrison Media (Surfing Life, White Horses, Australian Longboarding, Riptide) before transitioning into the Managing Editor role at Surfing Life Magazine for a further three years. Currently he lends his services as contract marketer for prominent Gold Coast shaper, Jason Rodd of JR Surfboards, as well as global swimwear label, Moana Bikini and fitness-brand, Bikini Body Burn. His passion remains, and will always remain, in surfing. At 30 years of age, and after a decade in and around the surf industry, he has a distaste for fakery, lazy marketing and businesses that have no respect for their customers… hence his development of his own brand, PAAD Traction.
