"Ru" was born in the UK where he has coached more than 15,000 people to surf, from entry-level to junior competitors before moving to Costa Rica in 2007 to create Surf Simply. His main interest is in scientifically-informed skepticism and the resulting analytical approach to surf coaching. This analytical approach created an opportunity for Ru be invited to speak at Google about how to objectively analyze something as complex, from a data point of view, as surfing. He now hosts a podcast as well as runs the Surf Simply operations.
