Rich Brooks grew up in Amityville, NY, a small town on the south shore of Long Island. He has been surfing for about 12 years, and has gotten into photography in recent months. He is currently an active duty Officer in the US Navy stationed in Panama City Beach, Florida, and does his surfing and shooting in his free time when the Gulf of Mexico isn’t as flat as a pancake. He was first drawn to nature and landscape photography, but soon decided to try his hand at surf photography and quickly realized it was the perfect combination of two things he enjoyed most. Having always lived near the water, or even on a ship at sea, Rich has a deep fondness and respect for the ocean and nature. In his photos he attempts to capture the moments where the joy of surfing blends with the beauty of nature.
