Dr. Nicole Forrester is an Assistant Professor in the Sport Media program in the RTA School of Media at FCAD. Dr. Forrester’s scholarship centres on the psychology of sport and factors associated with high performance in super elite performers. Specifically, her research interests includes the athlete’s perspective and narrative, the relationship between media and the psychosocial factors associated with high performance, and understanding how athletes make the shift from good to great. Dr. Forrester received her Ph.D. in Sport Psychology from Michigan State University, her Master of Education from the University of Texas in Exercise and Sport Psychology, and her Bachelors of Science and Art in Movement Science and Sport Management and Communication, respectively, from the University of Michigan. She is currently, completing an Executive Master of Business Administration from the Smith School of Business at Queen's University. She is a licensed Kinesiologist and a registered member with the Canadian Sport Psychology Association. In addition to Dr. Forrester’s scholarly pursuits, she is an Olympian, and an 8-Time Canadian Champion who has represented Canada on 20 national teams. She is a Commonwealth Games gold and bronze medalist, and a Pan American Games silver and bronze medalist. As an NCAA athlete at the University of Michigan she set the school and conference record, which are currently still in place. In 2014 she was inducted into the University of Michigan’s Women’s Track & Field Hall of Fame. Dr. Forrester has amassed practical experience in media with Fox Sports Network, as well as with CBC as a research assistant, sports science reporter and a host. She is also a member of the Board of Directors with Commonwealth Games Canada and the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario, and serves as an Olympic Supporter with the Canadian Olympic Committee. Prior to joining Ryerson University, Dr. Forrester was a founding professor in the Sport Management program at Niagara College.
