Michael grew up surfing the fickle beach-breaks of South Carolina and because of that he has a confounding appreciation for high period swells and solid surfing conditions. He studied Journalism and Spanish at the College of Charleston. Throughout recent years, he has been exploring the infinite surf breaks of the Iberian Peninsula and Northern Africa. He now resides in Northern Spain, in Santander and dedicates his time to teaching surf, translating Spanish literature, and writing about surfing and all the adventures that entails. He enjoys finding new breaks and surfing them with friends. He frequently self-appoints himself as a Surf Ambassador, promoting free choice (board choice) and Surf Romanticism. Live Surf. Love Surf.
