Kristen grew up in Connecticut, where she honed her love for the outdoors in the lakes and mountains of Vermont. In college, she found surfing in the frigid waters of coastal Maine and soon decided to trade in the brain freeze for the refreshing trade winds. In Hawaii, Kristen made herself at home SCUBA diving, free diving, surfing, and working as a marine biologist to protect the aquatic ecosystems she loves so much. This work transitioned into outreach and education, Kristen's real passion. She believes there is no way to gain respect and appreciation for our planet without digging deep and spending time in nature. She enjoys sharing this passion with AccesSurf and helping people with disabilities get into the ocean, and up on some waves.
