Joshua Pomer is an award winning director. His surf documentaries, "The Westsiders" and "Discovering Mavericks" have won multiple awards. While making his films Joshua has directed hollywood stars Gary Busey, Rosanna Arquette and Dean Winters in the making of the narration for several of his films. He has also worked with rock band Pearl Jam in the making of the soundtrack for "The Westsiders". Joshua started his surf movie career at the age of seventeen with his first effort, "Thunderballs". His first film that was distributed world wide was 1993, "The Kill". Surfer Magazine called Josh "one of the most influential directors." Joshua grew up in Santa Cruz and has strong roots with the northern California surf community. He has also been a big supporter of the Mauli Ola Foundation. Joshua is a film studies graduate of University of California, Santa Barbara. He is also an accomplished surfer and was surf team captain of the UCSB surf team, leading them to a national title.
