Shaper/Sculptor

John grew up skateboarding in Central Ohio, whose beach exposure was limited to sporadic family vacations to The Outer Banks. There, he dabbled in bodysurfing and bodyboarding. But it wasn't until he watched the surf classic "North Shore" that he was determined to ride on a proper surfboard. A few years later he found himself with daily access to waves while embarking on his graduate degree in sculpture in New York City. After Hurricane Sandy decimated the break where he had matured as a surfer, he salvaged lumber from the boardwalk to build his first shaping rack. This rack would serve as the prologue to his own personal story as a shaper.
