Jess Reilly researches climate change in coastal communities aboard her 39-foot sailboat, Oleada. For the next two years, she will sail from Pacific Mexico to the Caribbean to map vulnerability and collect narratives about coastal change in Latin America. Before she took her research to the sea, Jess lived for eleven years in Moab, UT, where she worked as a backcountry mountain bike guide and a field biologist. Jess completed her Masters at the Energy and Resources Group at UC Berkeley last year and is currently sailing through her PhD. You can follow her research expedition on her blog, jessreilly.com, and at the Institute of Current World Affairs.
