Jamie grew up in the suburbs of San Diego and fell in love with surfing at age 12. After attending college at Berkeley and USC, he quickly realized that living near LAX was the quickest and easiest way to score fun, uncrowded waves since it wasn't going to happen anywhere in Southern California.
