Daniel was born in Germany, grew up in Liberia, Africa, and when he was 8 years old he moved to Tenerife, Canary Islands, where he currently resides. He started with surfing when he was 13 years old and began windsurfing with 15. He learned very quickly and started competing at 16, when he became the Spanish Junior Champion. After a few other great results he stopped his pro surfing career and started working in the family business. When he turned 25, he quit and dedicated his life again to his passion.
