B.D. Nicolas has been documenting his surfing experience since he first started surfing in April of 2011. He was born in California but moved to the Big Island of Hawaii while in grade school. There he enjoyed catching beach breaks on a boogie at Magic Sands and watching locals surf the famous Banyan's in Kailua, Kona. B.D. moved back to the mainland just in time to attend high school and went on to earn a degree in Sociology from UC Berkeley and then his Masters in Social Work from San Francisco State University. In April of 2011, he found a fun board at a local garage sale in the Bay Area for $50 and it was all down hill from there. B.D. currently lives in San Diego and can often be found in empty lineups just across the border. You can check out his ongoing adventures at www.kookingitup.blogspot.com
