Alvaro Susena is a journalist born in Uruguay but based in Sweden since the early 80s. He has written about outdoor sports for over 30 years now, mainly covering climbing and skiing, and has been editor in chief of several magazines. Alvaro started to surf at 50-years old, deciding that falling on water wasn't quite as dangerous for his shiny new metal hip as falling from a boulder. Now he's in love with his longboard named La Yorugua. Besides surfing, climbing, and skiing, he spends lot of time at his own small island in the Archipelago of Gothenburg with his wife and two teenage kids. Alvaro is also one of the founders of Færd, a new brand of eco friendly surf and travel gear.
