The Inertia

Ben Gravy finds waves where others can’t. However, while the novelty wave hunter is most often seen chasing ferries or dodging calving glaciers, this time he went for something different. He’s been on a strike mission to the Bahamas that’s produced a bevy of edits, and to commemorate the tail end of the trip, he just posted an edit of him surfing a secret spot with some very shallow rocks.

It wasn’t Gravy’s first foray to the wave. In an edit of his trip to the same break last year, he called it the scariest wave he’s ever surfed, but that clearly wasn’t enough to keep him away. “This is the much-anticipated return to the dry reef slab I surfed last year,” he explained, shortly before heading out. ”Been dreaming about this for a while. It looks like it’s breaking out a little bit past the rock. Not that many barrels, potentially some decent waves.”

In the end, the rock took its pound of flesh (in the form of a nasty-looking ding), but the whole thing was worth it. “Can’t think of any better vibes, to be honest,” summed up Ben. “This was a good week.”
