The Inertia

The Knuckle Huck has undoubtedly become a massive crowd favorite. There’s so much creativity and progression packed into what’s really just a massive freestyle expression session that it’s tough to look away. Grab a handful of athletes, give them 20 minutes to pack in as many runs as possible, and see what you get.

Zeb Powell and Dusty Henricksen used human props like it was the NBA Slam Dunk contest and Markus Kleveland took gold after this 20-minute session. The broadcast team declared he’d wrapped gold the second he stomped out a 1440 in his fifth and final run of the event, closing the whole thing out and nabbing his second gold of the weekend.

“I honestly do think that this event probably influences daily riding maybe more than any event at X Games,” Selema Masekela pointed out.

Elsewhere in Aspen this weekend, we all got to sit and enjoy Masekela back in the booth after a decade hiatus from the X Games and Mark McMorris set a new record for X Games medals. There are events at the X Games that have garnered more coverage through the years but the Knuckle Huck is really a must-watch for fans.
