For a few years there, tow-in surfing was all the rage. Laird and the Strapped Crew had a hand in bringing it to the masses, but eventually, it died a slow death. Paddling became the way to do it, and towing is now reserved only for the days where paddling is simply not an option. Since it died that quick death, tow-surfing never really got to stretch is legs. The possibilities are nearly endless.
That’s probably why Monster Energy hosted an invite-only tow in event. Among the invitees were Shane Dorian, Makua Rothman, Kai Lenny, Nathan Florence, and Billy Kemper. They ended up at Puena Point, which, according to Monster Energy’s website, had never been towed before.
