The Inertia

If you have been on any major surf website lately you’ve probably heard about how Teahupoo has been firing on all cylinders. While the world’s top surfers gather in Brazil to duke it out, the big wave elite headed over to Tahiti to chase massive swell. All the heavyweights were there; Mark Healey, Peter Mel, Mark Matthews, Ryan Hipwood, and even Laird Hamilton.

The day started out with a heavy paddle session, and as the swell rose into the afternoon the crew was towing in. By all accounts Koa Rothman caught the wave of the day, getting shacked in a giant roar of whitewater. Nathan Fletcher was back in the line-up after winning an XXL award for his tow in ride during the Code Red swell. Keala Kennelly made it too, helmet and all. All in all, it was a massive session. Alex Gray and Mark Healey both say they got the ride of their lives. And day one of this madness is all summarized up above in a beautiful little edit. Day two below.
