The Inertia

Unfortunately Nicaragua ended our surf expeditions for the summer leaving us trying to think of what to do next. After we got back to the States we decided to swap the boards back and fly out to Woodward at Copper for Ride Snowboards week. As we walked into the main lobby at Woodward we were bombarded with campers running around playing ping pong, pool, and watching skate videos… two kids even bumped into us covered in black sharpie. Brandon Davis and I just looked at each other and laughed: “This is going to be one epic week.”

With no expectations but to go out and have some fun with the kids — we were stoked to find out Woodward had a full park setup with jumps and all, in the last week of July no less! I had never been out to Copper for summer before so it was a trip to be driving up this beautiful mountain watching mountain bikers go by to then suddenly spot this massive strip of snow where the normal winter park usually is. We lapped all week and had some of the most fun.

Basically, we rode from about 9 a.m. to noon every day. And when you got back there were endless activities to do. Between the Barn and the perfect mini ramp it was the hardest decision deciding what to do without getting burned out. The first day we were there we went right from snowboarding to mini golf, go karting, diggling (the most epic off-road mountain scooters), and finished the night off with ping pong back at the Edge where we stayed. The Woodward crew was so awesome and all the campers were killing it the entire week. I remember going to Woodward West as a kid; it was crazy being able to go as a guest pro and see the other side of things. In the end for a week with little to no expectations for snow, Brandon and I both were surprised that we ended up having one of the most fun weeks of the summer.
