The Inertia

I really wanted to make a surf film that encapsulated the culture of it in New England. It’s not your quintessential surf destination and it seems to be easily forgotten by the rest of the surf world.

Truth is, it’s not always pretty, the conditions are hardly ever ideal, and the water’s never that warm. To put it simply, it’s not “easy” to be a surfer here. I will say those of us who live and surf here still take pride in it being our little slice of the pie. The title for this film, “Brainless,” was a nod to the idea that people look at people who take surfing seriously in New England as a bit weird. So I kind of embraced that here. When you do get a good day of waves in New England, you really appreciate it.
